The Department of Technologies and Installations for Waste Management is a unit of Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering of Silesian University of Technology which the nature of the functioning oriented activities:
- scientific activity

- utilitarian activity
The area of research is oriented on: technologies for waste management, machines and technologies for environmental protection and constant and close cooperation with industry. Novelties and innovations developed by department have fast possibility of implementation to industry.
It can make possible to present students the concept of process from idea to project including research and as a conclusion the realisation the practical use.
The area of research covers waste disposal technologies based on processes:
- chemical engineering
- thermal processes used for processing of organical substances
- construction of machines and installations for disposal waste
- exhaust gas treatment
- energy and non-energy waste use
